TeamTandyla is navigating the kidney transplant process at the Oklahoma Transplant Center at the OU Medical Center.

Get educated.
When we first learned Tandyla was in need of a kidney transplant, a million questions crossed our minds – for her journey, and for the journey of a living donor should she be fortunate to receive a living kidney donation.
What’s involved with donating a kidney? How long does it take? How involved is the surgery? Who pays for the tests, prep, surgery, and incidentals? These fundamental questions and more are covered throughout the internet.
But we suggest learning more here:
- United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS.org)
- National Kidney Foundation (Kidney.org)
- Mayo Clinic

Determine if you’re eligible to donate.
Step 1 begins with contacting a Living Donor Coordinator at the Oklahoma Transplant Center. Call 405-271-7498 or visit the Oklahoma Transplant Center’s website. Let them know you have questions about donating to Tandyla. If you didn’t find all the answers you needed online, they can answer your questions and explain the donor process.
The living donor process can be completely confidential if you choose. But if you want to let TeamTandyla know you’re interested and are going to talk to a Living Donor Coordinator, that’s awesome! Use the Contact Page to let us know.
Not located in the Oklahoma City metro? Not a problem. Contact the Oklahoma Transplant Center to talk about donor eligibility regardless of where you live. A national network exists to facilitate the transplantation process.

Can’t Donate? Spread the word.
There are many reasons why a person is unable donate – some on TeamTandyla know this all too well.
But you can still join TeamTandyla and spread the word where you work, live, and spend your time on social media.
